Adoring Pet Funeral Home & Cremation Services is proud to be the first in the state of Michigan to offer Green Cremation beginning in November 2017. Since our founding in 2009, we believe families deserve a choice in care for their pets after they have passed.
How Does It
Work?
Green Cremation or alkaline hydrolysis to essentially accelerate what takes place in natural decomposition in the soil. A combination of gentle water flow, temperature, and alkalinity is used to accelerate the natural course of time. At the end of the process, the body has been returned to its natural form in water. Similar to cremation, the only solid remains are the mineral ash of the bones. The ash is a light sage or white color because it retains more minerals, is clean, and without carbon discoloration. Because the bone and ash needs to go through drying time, a day or two more is needed before ashes can be returned to families (if desired). Green Cremation generates a sterile, EPA-neutral liquid solution of amino acids, peptides, and sugars that is suitable for release onto the earth. We are regulated under the Great Lakes Water Authority to ensure the safety of the liquid solution and comply with yearly testing.
